Sensory Rooms and Calming Rooms

Sensory Rooms

Sensory rooms (sometimes called “Snoezelen” rooms) have long been established as a great environment for various forms of therapy, as well as educational learning. Sensory Rooms can have many different purposes and features to engage adults and children with autism SLD, PMLD, ASD and all aspects of special needs.  The combination of lighting and audio is key to creating a successful sensory space.

Using a huge variety of different sensory products, we create an inviting, immersive and interactive sensory space, providing you with a great facility with multiple uses for various activities.

Premier Solutions have been supplying and installing Sensory Room Equipment in the UK for over 18 years. We design Sensory Rooms for adults, teenagers and children alike, including sensory rooms for mainstream schools, hospitals, care homes, private homes and leisure centres. We incorporate many standard and purpose built products found in such spaces, such as bubble tubes and fibre optic tails, as well new and exciting products all of which can be found in our sensory shop area of the website.

The principle of a calming room is to create an environment where outside distractions are removed and visual and audio aids are introduced to promote relaxation and contemplation. Unlike the sensory room, a calming room’s objective is not to stimulate, but to provide a gentle path to mental escape. If you leave the room relaxed, then the room has done its job. Common features include slow colour-mixing lighting, bubble screens, wheel projectors and  simple audio systems playing relaxation music.

Some projects in the past have requested that this is a fully automated system, where a button is pressed to start each session with no further action required by a member of staff to operate the system. What forms part of the system comes down to the needs of each project and the available space.

As with all projects, whether it’s an existing space or a proposed new build facility, we are more than happy to meet with you, discuss your needs and from this, provide you with a fully descriptive written and illustrated quotation to show you what could be achieved with or without budget restrictions.

"The sensory room you have installed in absolutely beautiful. The children (and adultsJ) are thoroughly enjoying it. We make use of it literally every day. I also have to say, the quality is fabulous. Although there are so many people using it, it is still in perfect condition. Thanks again."
