What is a Hydrotherapy Pool?

Hydrotherapy is the use of interactive multisensory equipment to aid those with autism or other special needs to improve their cognitive and physical abilities. The advantages of weightlessness and ease of movement are already recognised. The addition of hydrotherapy lighting and audio equipment to a new or existing pool increases these advantages dramatically and is easier than you may think! We have designed and installed sensory Hydrotherapy pools over a number of years and the results are nothing short of amazing. You can use the pool to both calm and stimulate the users and, coupled with interactive features, you can also use the pool as a teaching aid.

For example "task & reward" methods can be applied by pressing a simple floating switch, which could change the colour of the whole room or fill the air with hundreds of gently changing beams. Projectors can be used to create “tracking beams” in the pool, which the users can follow around the pool to improve mobility. They can even be set to wait whilst the user catches up! Images can even be projected to create the effect of “swimming with dolphins”.

A high quality, water resistant sound system is also included that enables you to choose a variety of music or sounds from nature from a selection of special therapeutic CDs, at the touch of a button, without leaving the pool area or the client.
